Ebay - What a great concept! Reach buyers all over the world with your
online business. Here are a few tips that have propelled our
sales into the six figures a year:
- Establish a good reputation as soon as possible on
Ebay. You can familiarize yourself with Ebay by setting up an
account at Ebay Here.
- Higher priced items yield larger profits for the
same amount of work. You will drive yourself crazy selling $5
dollar items. Setting up the auction, answering questions from
potential bidders, packaging and shipping, resolving difficulties,
etc. Just isn't worth it! On the otherhand, purchasing a
few inexpensive items will start building your Ebay reputation and
getting you familiar with the process.
- Sell items that have a unique description.
Brand Names are best. Remember that Ebay has literally millions
of things for sale. No one just browses as they would in a
store. Think like a buyer. Would you ever search for
"pretty vase", or "nice piece of furniture"? It is much better to
have a specific brand name to sell on ebay. When you are looking
for things to sell on Ebay put yourself in the shoes of a buyer who
wants a very specific thing at a better price.
- Be professional. Answer questions quickly
and accurately. Check your email spam filter to make sure that
buyer's email isn't getting filtered out before it gets to you.
Amazon Seller
- Here
is another big company - good name. Unlike Ebay, a listing on
Amazon stays up until it sells. Communication with the buyers is
also very limited, usually limited to notifying the buyer that you've
shipped their purchase. These two factors make it worthwhile to
sell lower priced items.
However,
if you can get access to higher priced items - better yet. You can make good money with out of print books, rare books,
collectible children's books, or items that you
purchase by the case for the wholesale price. Amazon is very easy. You list your items
for sale - they do everything else. You receive an email
informing you that you've made a sale and giving you the shipping
information. A week or so later, Amazon makes an electronic
deposit in your bank account!
